How do I set up my mailbox in Outlook?

We make use of ‘autodiscover’ technology so that, in the majority of cases, Microsoft Outlook can set up your account for you with only an email address and a password.

Automatic Outlook Setup

  1. In Outlook, choose the File tab
  2. Under Account Information, choose Add Account
  3. On the Auto Account Setup page, enter your name, email address, and password, and then choose Next
  4. Choose Finish

Manual Outlook Setup for your mailbox

If automatic setup fails, you can choose Manual setup or additional server types to enter your settings manually. Use these settings:

  • Account type: IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: imap.stackmail.com.
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.stackmail.com.
  • Incoming server port (IMAP): 993
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
  • Outgoing server port (SMTP): 465
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL/TLS

When setting up your account, please choose More Settings > Outgoing Server and check the box for ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’.

If you experience any problems with the connection or receive a certificate warning, please disable SSL/TLS encryption and change the incoming server port to 143. 

You can also set up the account using POP3, however this is not recommended in general as emails will be downloaded to the mail client you connect to the mail server.

  • Account type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server: pop3.stackmail.com.
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.stackmail.com.
  • Incoming server port (POP3): 995
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
  • Outgoing server port (SMTP): 465

What are the recommended settings for Thunderbird Mail client and Spark

We always recommend IMAP as it helps keep messages in sync between various devices and our webmail system. This is our recommended configuration for Thunderbird mail clients for your email.

Incoming Server (“Account Settings” > “Server Settings”)

Server Name: imap.stackmail.com
Username: Your e-mail address
Port: 993
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: ‘Normal password’

Outgoing Server (SMTP)

Server Name: smtp.stackmail.com
Port: 587
Connection Security: STARTTLS 
Authentication method: ‘Normal password’
Username: Your e-mail address

If you choose to use domain-branded server names, such as mail. your-domain or imap.your-domain, the secure connection may throw a certificate warning due to a common name mismatch. However, this can be safely trusted, and your connection will remain secure.

How do I set up email on my Android device?

Here’s how to set up a 20i email on an Android phone or tablet:

  • Open the mail application on your Android device. 
  • Select Add New Account and enter the mailbox name and it’s password. 
  • Select Manual Setup and select IMAP Account.
  • The User name will need to be the same as the mailbox name.
  • Enter imap.stackmail.com as the IMAP Server, change the Security Type to SSL, Port 993 should then be used.
  • Enter smtp.stackmail.com as the SMTP Server, change the Security Type to SSL, Port 465 should be added.
  • The outoing mailserver User name and Password are the username and password for your mailbox. 
  • Select Sign In and the mailbox will be added to your Android. 

Email on my iPhone?

There’s a quick and easy way to set up email on your iPhone or iPad. On the device you wish to set up mail:

Auto-Configuration

  • Head to Manage Hosting > Options > Manage.
  • Select Email Accounts. 
  • Select Options > Account Setup.
  • You’ll then see the Download iOS Mobile Profile button, select this to download the correct information to your iPhone to set up your email account. 
  • Review and install the profile on your phone, you’ll need to enter your mailbox password to complete the setup.

Manual Configuration 

To set up your 20i mailbox on an Apple iPhone or iPad, you need to:

  • Head to the Settings icon and locate the Accounts & Passwords option.
  • Then select ‘Add Account’.
  • Select Other from this list.
  • Select Add Mail Account.
  • Input the information requested:

Name: Anything    
Email: example@yourdomain.com    
Password: Mailbox Password    
Description: Work, Business…etc

IMAP:
Incoming Mail Server    
Host Name: imap.stackmail.com    
Username: example@yourdomain.com    
Password: Mailbox Password

Outgoing Mail Server    
Host Name: smtp.stackmail.com    
Username: example@yourdomain.com    
Password: Mailbox Password

  • Finally, select the mail account and go into the Outgoing Mail Server settings. Select Primary Server, make sure SSL is switched on and the port is set to 587.

Directly logging into your mailbox

It is possible to log into webmail directly by going to https://www.stackmail.com and using your email address and password to log in.

Changing your Email password

    Generate strong passwords and easily store, manage, and share them securely in Bitwarden.
  • LastPass Password Generator: This is a very popular and trusted option, often integrated directly into their password manager. It offers excellent customization for length and character types.
  • Dashlane Password Generator: Similar to LastPass, Dashlane provides a robust generator that allows you to specify various criteria for your password.
  • KeePassXC Password Generator (Offline): While not strictly “online,” KeePassXC is a free, open-source, and highly secure offline password manager that includes an excellent password generator. Using an offline tool can offer an extra layer of security as your password generation isn’t reliant on a web connection.

Important Considerations:

  • Always use HTTPS: Ensure the website you’re using has “https://” in its URL, indicating a secure connection. All the listed generators use this.
  • Don’t reuse passwords: The primary benefit of a generator is creating unique passwords for every account.
  • Consider a password manager: While generators are great for creating passwords, a password manager (like LastPass, Dashlane, 1Password, or KeePassXC) is essential for securely storing and managing them.

Log in to Stackmail: Go to the Stackmail login page and enter your current email address and password. https://stackmail.com

Find Settings/Preferences: Once you’re logged in, look for a “Settings,” “Preferences,” or a gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner or a sidebar. Click on it.

Navigate to Password/Security: Within the settings menu, you should see an option related to “Password,” “Security,” “Account,” or “Change Password.” Click on this.

Enter Current Password: You’ll likely be asked to enter your current password first to verify your identity. Type it in the designated field.

Enter New Password: Now, you’ll see fields for your “New Password” and “Confirm New Password.”

  • Type your desired new password into the “New Password” field.
  • Type the exact same new password into the “Confirm New Password” field to ensure there are no typos.
